Seven Things You May Not Know About Me: (as required by Rule #4)

1 - I really wish to live in Kentucky again...(what??? you all already knew that one...well, just in case you forgot...8-)

2 - My favorite color is pink, and all the jewel tones...you know...ruby red, emerald green, sapphire blue..

3 - I worry way to much for anyone's own good...(what???? AGAIN? You mean you all knew that one too??? hmmmmmm...)

4 - I don't like feta cheese!

5 - I don't like the color red for a car, unless it's a Ferrari or a Corvette...

First Time Friday !

My daugher, Amy, over at The Un-wife Housewife Life, sent me a link to this cool ***Scarf Swap*** over at Loves of Life.

I still consider myself fairly new to the blog world, and I've never entered a blog anything... but I figured, why not? I love scarves of any shape and color, I have several of them in fact that I do not get to wear nearly as often as I would like to. Living in the hot, humid, muggy South Florida area, we don't have many days that you feel like having much of anything wrapped around your neck. But, when we do have a nice cool day, or when we travel north to visit family, you can be sure that I will be wearing one of some sort, most all the time!

I'm looking forward to my first "swap" and I'm excited that it's a scarf swap. I highly recommend you heading over and visit Katie at Loves of Life and sign up. Entries will only be accepted 'till September 21!

Freaky Friday....

This morning I looked around at all of the projects that I have going and/or want to get started...and F R E A K E D!! I actually started the summer (after getting back from almost a month of travel between Kentucky (Niece Pagie's Wedding) and California (step-son Nick's graduation) with this project for my daughter, Amy. She is in nursing school and is carrying around books that are bigger than her, and desperatly needs something to carry them all in, (while looking cool at the same time!)

I also started this for my step-mom, Karen, this summer, who probably won't get much use out of it this year, as we are quickly moving along into fall, and I don't even have it 1/2 finished yet!

I purchased a lot of yarn at some awesome deals this summer in hopes of getting some cool, quick things made for family!

And I just received in the mail yesterday, a TON of pattern books that normally range from $5.95 to $9.95 all for $14.24 which included shipping and handling charges, to make those cool quick things ..woohoo!!!

I'm also wanting BADLY to get to a cute little cloche for my adorable grand-niece, along with about a dozen other things for her including matching outfits that I already have patterns and material for her and her Bitty Baby...8-(

Now, if I could just figure out how to get these things finished....I did make a couple of tote bags this summer for my daughter, one for a summertime swap that she participated in and then another one in different colors for one of her good friends that is getting married soon. We made that one in her wedding colors and Amy filled it with all kinds of "essentials" that she may need on her wedding day...

I would love to find the time to finish this project that I wanted to do for my husband, Steve, for his birthday...which has come and gone...Happy Belated Birthday, Honey, maybe, just maybe, I'll get it finished for Christmas....(insert deep sigh here)...I Love You!

Christmas - in July?!?!?

I'm nose down in a couple of projects at the moment, and none of them are completed yet, but it's been a while since I shared anything with you all, and SOMEONE -(who shall not be named...but, if you figure it out, it's ok) is bugging me to blog again about something new....so, I went back in time, to Christmas of 2008 and came up with this!




I made this for Amy and Ed for Christmas this past year. They had moved into their home, and it was their first Christmas on their own. Since they had done MAJOR renovations to their home over the previous months, they were not really ready to invest in too many Christmas decorations. Amy is a huge fan of "homemade" anything anyway..and this cute little craft seemed to fit them. She loves snowmen, and Ed is an "outdoor" kinda guy...so the woodland critters seemed to fit right in.

Let me tell you...when I bought this "kit" it looked simple enough, and everything was included, so I figured, why not? I have been sewing and doing crafts for most of my life, and this just didn't seem like a big deal. WELL, while it was fairly easy, and the instructions were pretty good, I did not anticipate the time intensive nature of the project. Not to mention, every time Amy and/or Ed stopped by the house, I had to run and quickly hide everything, (this was one of their gifts, after all)... Every stitch is done by hand. Every bead and sequin is attached, by hand, one bead and/or sequin at a time.

The end result is awesome though. When it's hanging on a wall or door, with twinkling lights catching each bead and sequin, it makes the thing sparkle and it seems to almost come to life.

I think it came out pretty good, but I do have a much better appreciation of anyone who does these types of crafts regularly. Amy and Ed were pleased, and it was immediately hung on the inside of their front door for all to see and enjoy. I swore I would never make another one...........

however....8-)

Amy's " Summertime Swap"...and I helped..

Amy participated in a "Summertime Swap" and was paired up with a cute girl named Jordan. It was amazing to me just how much these two girls had in common, even though they live hundreds of miles apart and had never met before, even in the blog world! Amy is here in the (not so sunny) Sunshine State of Florida, (I say this because we are full swing into our rainy season with rain and thunderstorms...every -- single --day ..insert sigh here..) while Jordan lives in Texas. They were paired up thru another blogger, Sweet Tea Diaries - Angela - (I dunno why, but, I really like that name ...teehee) who sponsored the "swap". Anyway, I gladly helped out with the "swap" by making a cute "beach/lake tote" and some co-ordinating koozies for Jordan. I had a lot of fun participating in this with Amy, and I gotta tell ya....there is something pretty cool about seeing pictures of your work on a someone else's blog, in Texas, and you've never met that person before. Here's a couple of pictures of the tote and the koozies, before they left the Sunshine State.

It seems Jordan like them, along with all the other cool things Amy included, and Amy got some really cool things in return. You can check the details of each of their swaps at their blogs...and also see pictures of my uhmmm..sorry...Jordan's tote and koozies, which are now in the Lone Star state of Texas. I just think that's so cool.

As for me, I'm off to start another bag....this time for Amy. She liked it so much, she asked if I would make her one too. I'm into 3 different projects at the moment...so stay tuned.
